Board of Directors Application
“Understanding the Duties of a Board Member”
Board Members are enlisted for their unique skills and contributions. Some are adept fundraisers, providing invaluable support to nonprofits.
Others lend their extensive industry expertise, credibility, or prestige to the organization. Regardless of their specific roles, all Board Members share a common responsibility: stewardship.
The Board of Directors bears the ultimate responsibility for the organization’s management, necessitating active engagement. Those unable to commit the necessary time may not be the best fit for an active Board. A crucial function of the Board is to ensure that all resources and efforts align with the organization’s mission.
To begin, every Board Member should acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s programs, support groups, advocacy scope, and membership. Familiarity with the organization’s Bylaws is also essential.
The Board convenes monthly on the last Saturday at 1:00 p.m., with meetings typically lasting one hour. The Board maintains regular communication through various electronic means, such as phone, text, email, and Microsoft Teams.
We believe that by integrating individual, family, and community resources, we can provide tools, support to manage and maintain mental health, provide career training to overcome barriers and societal challenges that may prevent someone from being successful and self-sufficient today.
